むかしあるところに、ジャックという男おとこの子こがいました。ジャックはお母かあさんと一緒いっしょに小ちいさな家いえに住すんでいました。二人ふたりは牛うしのミルクを売うって生活せいかつしていましたが、あまりお金かねを持もっていません。ある日ひ、牛うしからミルクが出でなくなって、とうとう牛うしを売うることにしました。「必かならず高たかく売うってきて。」お母かあさんはジャックに言いいました。「もちろん。」ジャックはそう言いって、お店みせへ向むかいました。お店みせへの道みちの途と中ちゅうで、ジャックはふしぎなおじいさんに会あいました。おじいさんは言いいました。「おはよう、ジャック。どこに行いくの？」ジャックは、なんでぼくの名な前まえを知しっているの？と思おもいながら答こたえました。「この牛うしを売うりにお店みせへ行くんだよ。」

English Translation

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Jack. Jack lived with his mother in a little house. They lived on selling milk given by a cow, but they have little money. One day, the cow gave no milk and they finally decided to sell the cow. “Make sure to sell it at a good price.” Jack’s mother said to him. “Sure,” Jack said and headed toward a shop. On his way to the shop, Jack met a mysterious old man. The old man said, “Good morning, Jack. Where are you going?” While Jack was wondering why the old man knew his name, he replied, “I’m going to the shop to sell this cow.”
